(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today commented on the Army reversing recent policy that forced groups of Army captains and majors to retire from service at ranks much lower than they had earned. After repeated Congressional inquiries, the Army found it had made an error and reversed its decision. This reversal will allow service members to retire as the Officer rank they hold or to stay in the military if they choose.
